criminal defense
Philosophy of RepresentationThank God the Massachusetts criminal justice system ensures your right to remain innocent unless the state meets its heavy burden of proving you guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. I will protect all of your constitutional rights and help you exercise those rights. Those rights include making sure the police had probable cause to arrest you or to issue a criminal complaint against you. Those rights include making sure the police had probable cause to search you, your home or your vehicle. Those rights include making sure the police gave you the right to remain silent and that you were given the opportunity to contact an attorney when you requested one. Those rights include being able to face and question your accuser in court. Those rights include being able to call witnesses on your behalf and question those witnesses in court who are against you. Those rights include making the state prove every element of the crime you are accused of beyond a reasonable doubt.
Many people have lost faith in our criminal justice system. A system that was designed to punish and then rehabilitate the guilty seems to do neither at times. This lost faith causes many people to lash out at those accused of crimes and to condemn those convicted. This may seem like a good idea until it is you, a loved one, or a friend who stands accused or convicted.
This is when you need an advocate to counsel you as to the best resolution of your case that allows you and your family to move forward with your lives. This is when you need an advocate to stand by you and support you when those who were your former friends are no longer by your side. When you are accused of a crime it doesn’t matter if your Attorney believes you, it only matters that your Attorney believes in you!
